Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I started at the gym before CrossFit was introduced. My husband and I married in winter 2012 and after everything was done I found myself coming home from work eating Hamburger Helper and sitting on the couch for hours which in turn made me lazy and out of shape. Our friends told my husband and I about Crow River CrossFit aka Core Fit N Motion, it was literally in walking distance from our old house. We thought, why not give it a chance! The moment we walked in, we loved it…I loved it! Fast forward to September 2012, I tried CrossFit for the first time and was addicted. The adrenaline rush as the coach is yelling 3-2-1 GO is like no other! CrossFit has brought back my passion for competition and the athlete side of me that I so long missed! Now my husband and I have date nights at the gym and take our 1 year old twins with us sometimes too!

Why did you become a trainer?

Ever since I started CrossFit, I knew I wanted to be a bigger part of our community at Crow River CrossFit. In February 2014, I decided to take the next step and get my CrossFit Level 1 Certification. I wanted to give back what CrossFit has given me, a new outlook on fitness, help make positive changes in someone’s health and wellness and to motivate and inspire others to reach their goals.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Pull-ups, I have never been able to do a pull-up, not even in grade school. It took a long time to achieve a kipping pull-up but once I did, it was the best feeling ever!

What is your favorite cheat food?

Pizza and Chips, not together though!

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

Supergirl is my favorite Superhero because she is lean, muscular and feminine. Supergirl is known to be honest and a defender of the innocent. In CrossFit, it shows that woman can lift weights, and still be feminine at the same time as does Supergirl!
